Serbin

Thelma Serbin, 101, of Manayunk, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Joseph Villa in Flourtown. She was the beloved wife of the late John M. Serbin.

Born and raised in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, Thelma was the daughter of the late William and Katherine Wright and sister to the late Winfield Wright. She is survived by her loving sister, Eleanor Conicello of Andorra.

Thelma spent most of her life on Main Street in Manayunk, creating a warm home and a successful business. For nearly 20 years after her husband's passing, she lived in Cape May, New Jersey, with her daughter Kathy and son-in-law Bill where she continued to enjoy family life and the beauty of the shore.

She was the devoted mother of Kathleen (William), John (Joy), and Francis (Judy), and the cherished grandmother of nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

An accomplished seamstress and passionate gardener, Thelma cultivated a backyard full of flowers that brought beauty to her home.

For nearly 50 years, she owned and operated Thelma's Luncheonette on Main Street, a cornerstone of the Manayunk community and a favorite local hangout.

Her long life bears witness not only to a century of history and change but also to her steadfast belief in hard work, perseverance, and family. She leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to her viewing Wednesday 9 AM and to participate in her funeral mass 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 119 Rector St. Phila. Int. Westminster Cemetery.
