Boyle

David Thomas Boyle, age 85, of Manassas, Virginia, surrounded by family and

loved ones passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025.

Born September 30th,1939 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, David was the second

child of Helen Smith Boyle and John Leo Boyle Jr. He attended high school at St.

John the Baptist in Roxborough PA and graduated from Roman Catholic Academy in Philadelphia (1957). In 1962, he graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy where he married the love of his life Patricia Martina Boyle (nee Waldron) at the USCGA Chapel.

He was stationed in Portland, Maine as a shipboard engineer aboard Coast Guard ships Cook Inlet and USCGC Barataria. He had a successful career as a Marine Engineer where he eventually landed in Manassas, Virginia (“Home”) for 40 years with his beloved wife Patsy and children. Dave/Patsy eventually moved in his retirement years to Tel Hai Retirement community in Honeybrook, Pennsylvania.

Dave was always beloved by those who knew him. He was known for his faith in

the Catholic church, quick wit, sense of humor, kindness to everyone and was the

life of the party maintaining a lifelong camaraderie with his friends and USCGA

classmates.

He enjoyed watching football, interacting with family, cultural arts, family trips to the shore, global travel, stock car races, quality family time and especially a good stiff drink of bourbon or Irish whiskey neat.

Dave is survived by his wife of Patricia Martina Boyle (nee Waldron) for 63 years, siblings Christine Helene D'Angelo (nee Boyle) and Brian Joseph Boyle and by his three children Suzanne Marie Tonetti (nee Boyle)/(Bill Tonetti); David Patrick Boyle (Kathryn Schultz Boyle); Julie Marie Holstein (nee Boyle)/(Scott Holstein). Additionally, he is survived by his 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Dave was preceded in death by siblings John Leo Boyle III and Richard Joseph Boyle in 2019 and by grandson Scott Thomas Holstein

Family and friends are invited to meet with his family Friday 9 AM and to participate in his memorial mass 10:30 AM at St John the Baptist Church, 119 Rector St., Phila., 19127. Int private.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to Saint Jude’s Childrens Hospital, in memory of David.
