Peterman
Vera "Elsie" (nee Mc Alarnen), born, raised and never lived anywhere but the Manayunk and Roxborough areas of Philadelphia her entire life.
She worked manufacturing airplane parts for the war effort during World War II. From there, she went to Bell Telephone, where she worked until retirement in the 1970's.
Vera was an independent woman who lovingly cared for both of her parents, as well as her sisters, Marie and Dot. She treated her nephews, Harry, Jimmy and Bobby Vetter, as her own. She considered all of their children and grandchildren as hers, all the way down to the youngest ones who are great great grandchildren.
She enjoyed all Philadelphia sports, but was particularly passionate about the Phillies and Flyers. She loved the outdoors and returned to the Endless mountains of Pennsylvania for many summers to revisit the places of her family roots. She loved to tell stories about her youth, such as making pies from wind fallen apples and jumping into piles of hay at her Uncle Phil's farm.
Vera also cared deeply for her pets, most recently her cat Latches. At her life's end, Vera passed peacefully into her next life in the company of her loved ones. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her very much.
Family and friends are invited to her viewing Monday 9 AM and to participate in her funeral mass 10 AM at the St John the Baptist Church, Int. Calvary Cemetery.
