Buckle up because this is way too long of a post...
I met Anna only once briefly backstage at a comedy club, Stand Up New York, at 78th and Broadway in New York City, in the mid 1990s. And by backstage, I mean in the tiny (day old beer-smelling) hallway next to the bar. Anna was there with her husband, her youngest daughter Karen, and a couple more of her children/Terry’s sisters, and her at-the-time young grandson, cutie-pie Mathew, to cheer on their super funny daughter Terry. As you might imagine, Terry brought down the house and she was immediately a club favorite!
Terry and I became best friends because I wanted to look at the world through her eyes - through laughter and love. We cry together, we laugh together, and we travel together. If you have ever met Terry, Anna’s second youngest daughter, you know that Terry is way more than a kind, loving, and funny person. Terry‘s humor is unique and brings the kind of JOY that almost burns your lungs like after a long unexpected run in the cold.
In the last several years, I know Terry would call and visit her Mom regularly. Terry and her hot-ticket sense of humor makes her a true HEALER and I have no doubt in my mind that her HEALING POWER kept her Mom, Anna, full of life and LOVE.
Then two years ago, in October 2017, I started a special project for Terry that I never completed because I was unable to connect with some of Terry’s favorite people (A’hem, if you’re one of them email your video). I called it, “Terry, I love you because… “ and Anna did a video where she shared with Terry memories of how the neighbors always knew when Terry was home for a visit because the house would shake with thunderous heart-pounding laughter!!!
Terry, I’m so sorry for your loss of your loving mother, Anna. I have a funny feeling that despite being one of the hardest moments in your life, you are still finding a way to bring HEALING & JOY to your family and to all those who are suffering because they miss your Mother with all their might.
