Obituary of Rebecca E. Mondress- Baxter
MONDRESS-BAXTER
REBECCA “BETSY”
Age 61, of the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, PA, passed away from complications from cancer on April 17, 2020, surrounded by her loving husband and mother. She is survived by her husband Arthur, her mother Elizabeth Mondress, her mother-in-law Rosalie Baxter, her cats Alger & Edie and sister Diane (Mondress) Frankenfield. She is preceded in death by her father Morton Mondress and her brother Eric Mondress. She will also be missed greatly by her friends, colleagues and patrons of the Free Library of Philadelphia. She served the City of Philadelphia for 36 years, first as a Social Worker for DHS but mainly for 33 years as a diligent and devoted Librarian for the Free Library of Philadelphia. She finished her career as the adult services supervising Librarian at the Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library in the Germantown section of the city. She was a graduate of Kutztown University with a BA in English and received her Masters degree in Library Science at Drexel University. Her ambition in life was to help other people selflessly. She was a beautiful quiet soul whose presence will be kept alive by those lives she touched. Rest in peace, dearest Betsy, my love. A memorial service will be planned in the future. In lieu of flowers, may we kindly suggest donations to the American Cancer Society that would be greatly appreciated.
