Mrs. Wong was like a second mother to me. Sometimes she scared me (when she was scolding Jeff - not me). She sent me to the Chinese Christian Center to study Cantonese with Jeff and Janet which started me on a lifetime of studying and teaching Chinese. I enjoyed many a good meal at the Wongs and always felt loved as a member of the family.

Aunt Helen was one of the most generous and thoughtful person that I have known. I will really miss her.
Love,

Aunt Helen was a special auntie - I always felt a warmth from her beyond the generous arm loads of Philadelphia soft pretzels and varieties of Tastykakes.
Thinking about her over the years, you know, Aunt Helen had visited me at every national park I have worked at — from real Wild West adventures in Texas at Big Bend NP; a camping trip with the 2 sisters and me and Janet M near Zion NP and finally - spending the night in my small house in California near Pinnacles NP - mom and aunt Helen squeezed together on a full bed in the living room.
And one more memory to share was when I had a conference in Phillie and took a day to see both Aunt Gee at work and also accompanied Aunt Helen home via the bus after her work. I was amazed by both aunties who were well into their 80’s still working strong.
I have pics of all these occasions but need to find them! Meanwhile, here are some from long ago and more recently showing how playful she could sometimes be. Love my family, thank you Aunt Helen for the important part you’ve been in my life. Love, Nisē

Helen was a loving and caring sister. She was a pioneer to our immigrant parents. Her steadfast care never faltered. How gratefully fortunate we all were.
I love you and miss you, Huong. Bet Chee ❤️

Helen Wong was a dear and great lady, soft-spoken yet determined to do what she needed to do. She was the mom to good friends of ours, Jeff and Janet, and therefore was a good friend of ours. She and her husband Jim took delight in hosting Chinese New Year's dinners for her children's friends and she relished in all the hard work because she knew everyone appreciated her effort and good cooking. We all loved hanging out in the kitchen talking to Mr. and Mrs. Wong, for they were so personable and welcoming. She was a fantastic cook, and we are truly blessed that we had many opportunities to share in their dinner parties over the years. But Mrs. Wong will be most remembered for her friendly smile and warm personality. She will be sorely missed. Mike and Judy Paparo extend their most heartfelt sympathies to Jeff and Janet.
