Our mother, Pat, and Joan became best friends in First Grade at St. John's and remained so throughout their lives. Almost weekly, after we were in bed, they enjoyed a pot of coffee at our kitchen table.
Mr. Beecroft's loving bond with our mother was evident during her four years of illness prior to her death in 2009. A frequent visitor to the hospital and the various nursing homes, Joan's arrival always
brightened Mom's face.
She "took charge" whenever Mom was home, she provided much needed respite for Dad and lots of laughter for them both. Her energy was amazing! We all were comforted by knowing that Mom would have Joan's company and care every weekday and that she could handle anything.
Mrs. Beecroft's and Mom's lifelong friendship showed us the true meaning of the word. We were blessed that Joan was part of our lives since childhood, we dearly loved and respected her.
We're sending our prayers and condolences to her children and Sister Ruth, you've lost a special lady.
