Sandra "Sandy" Kawa, 79, of Birmingham, AL, formerly of Lewis Center OH and Cumming, GA, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on January 7, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung cancer, anxiety and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). She was born in Philadelphia, PA to Ann and Walter Faber. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Sandra spent most of her life working with people, whether as a restaurant manager in Syracuse, NY or salesperson for Talbots in NY and GA. Sandra had a beautiful smile, huge heart and unique sense of humor.
One of her passions was cooking and she watched every Chopped episode aired. She also loved to garden and create delicious meals with her vegetables. Her passion was doing arts and crafts every year to share with her friends and family. Her love of football was evidenced by the many fall days spent watching the Philadelphia Eagles, Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes play. She was fortunate to have spent the past 16 years between Georgia, Ohio and Alabama, building memories her loved ones will not soon forget.
Family was particularly important to Sandra, she is survived by her four (4) children John Skrobis, Michele Gregory, Sandra Carter, Michael Skrobis and seven (7) grandkids, Olivia and Sydney Gregory, Mason and Alexis Carter, Gabriella, Victoria and Liam Skrobis. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved sister-in-law Joan Faber as well as many extended family and friends. .
Sandra was predeceased by her parents Ann and Walter Faber, her siblings Barbara Alberts, Walter Faber, Eileen Yukanis.
Family and friends are invited to her memorial mass 10:30 AM both at St. John the Baptist Church, 119 Rector Street, Philadelphia, Pa 19127. Inurnment private. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions in Sandra's memory to charities of your choice, in your community.
