It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Ellen Anne Baker (nee Taylor), who left us on April 1, 2024. Born on June 9, 1961 in Philadelphia, PA.


Ellen was known for her kindness, infectious laughter, and unwavering loyalty. Her presence brightened our lives, and her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration. She is survived by her twin sister, Regina Walsh (nee Taylor), Thomas Taylor, Brother and Joseph Taylor, brother, three nieces, two nephews, four grandnieces, seven grandnephews and many friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.


She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Barry Gene Baker, and her mother, Regina Taylor (Rafter) and her father, Joseph Thomas Taylor


She was a proud veteran of the United States Army and retired in 2008 with the rank of Sergeant First Class. During her 20 years of service Ellen dedicated herself to her country, including deployments to Saudi Arabia, Bosnia, Guam and British Indian Ocean Territory. She received many awards including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, South West Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. After her military career, she was employed as a civilian at Lockheed Martin and Raetheon in Colorado.


A memorial gathering to celebrate Ellen's life will be held on Saturday, September 28 at 9:30 AM followed by her memorial mass 10:30 AM, at St. John the Baptist Church, 119 Rector Street, Philadelphia, PA. 19127


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.


Ellen will be dearly missed and forever cherished in our hearts.
